The best way to get your own blog running is to sign up for a free WordPress blog. I think they have one of the best, easiest to learn, and yet powerful systems. It comes complete where you don’t have to do much of anything to have something that looks and works great.

My blog is an example of a WordPress blog. After I set it up, I just browsed for a theme I liked, all within its administrative interface, and presto!–a blog! So go to http://wordpress.com/ and sign up for one.

Your new blog will be hosted by WordPress at whatever.wordpress.com. The way WordPress makes their money is simple. If, at some point in the future, you want to have your own domain name for your blog, like www.whatever.com, you can pay them a yearly fee. All completely optional, though.

(Of course, being a computer geek, I can legally put their WordPress software on my own webhost and bypass their paid service. It’s something that I do for people who want me to create a blog+website because then I can customize it more. But you can still do an awful lot with a WordPress blog, even making it appear like a regular website.)

So get to http://wordpress.com/ and sign up. It’s very, very easy to create your blog/website. Ridiculously easy, in fact. You’ll love it.
